Who wins the prize between the DEWALT DWS780 power miter saw and the Bosch 5312 miter saw? Now this is a pretty good question to ask, considering the fact that these two saws are considered as the best power miter saws for making accurate crosscuts, according to user’s reviews. For the benefit of those who might need to make an informed choice and decision between the two, this article will compare both power tools and possibly pick a winner.
Bosch 5312 12-Inch Dual Bevel Slide Compound Miter Saw
The Bosch 5312 12-Inch compound miter saw, has times without number, given folks and professionals a good reason to keep making it their choice power cutting tool due to its basic advantages which according to users, myself included, have surpassed its disadvantages. Here are the pros and cons of the Bosch 5312 and why it’s a great choice.
Advantages of the Bosch 5312 12-Inch Dual Bevel Slide Compound Miter Saw
- When it comes to accuracy, the Bosch 5312 sure does live up to expectation. From the lot of sliding compound saws I’ve tested so far, I’ve never for once come across a compound miter saw able to cut out different shapes and sizes accurately; especially if what you’re cutting is just an ordinary wood. For me, the Bosch 5312 passed this test with flying colors. Moreover, the manufacturers took their time to make sure this is always possible by designing the saw with an adjustable 90 degree system.
- I’ve always had issues with compound miter saws whose durability functionality easily gets affected due to one physical issue or the other. In other words, most of the slide power miter saws I’ve used, usually loose a percentage of their functionality when they fall or have a physical impact with a hard surface. Unlike these other saws, the Bosch 5312, when it accidently fell from a table, still retained its functionality a 100%, even though it sustained a little crack. Once again, that’s not common with most slide compound miter saws.
- I’m a chump for getting things done real quickly, especially when it’s about meeting up a project target. With regards to that, I naturally would go for a miter saw, ready to give me the cutting speed I need. Using a Bosch 5312, gave me that satisfaction after I discovered it came with frontal controls located on the power head of the saw, the controls give the saw it’s tilting ability, which equally affects the speed.
- The appearance of the Bosch 5312, make it so portable that Bosch engineers prefer carrying about as a site tool.
Disadvantage of the Bosch 5312 12-Inch Dual Bevel Slide Compound Miter Saw
- I personally would have let this slide because to me, it wouldn’t really matter; but for those who enjoy a long period maintenance on their tools, then I probably should spill it. With the Bosch 5312, replacing the factory blade under a short period will always be a frequent act, for unfortunately, the blade wasn’t designed to manage long use. In other words, be prepared to replace the blade as often as you use the saw.
DEWALT DWS780 12-Inch Double Bevel Sliding Compound Miter Saw
The DEWALT DWS780 is equally a great compound miter saw with amazing cutting results. Based on my personal discipline in the manufacturing industry, I choose to make comparisons, but with the obvious choice, afterwards.
- The DEWALT DWS780 is equally accurate in cutting results, but unlike the Bosch 5312 where after setting the preferred cutting angle, you can let go of the button and keep cutting; the DEWALT DWS780 is designed with angle setting buttons you have to hold in place throughout the cutting duration. This limits your speed, because you have to make occasional stops in order to take breathers.
- Unlike the Bosch 5312, the overall durability of the DEWALT DWS780 is not so encouraging, as its functionality ability easily gets affected when it accidently has an impact with a hard surface. In other words, if the saw falls during use or hits a hard surface, its functions immediately get affected.
- As much as the Bosch 5312 leads my choice of top compound miter saws around, I’ll not fail to mention the fact that the power blades of the DEWALT DWS780 are an obvious better choice to the Bosch, as it lasts a lot longer than that of the Bosch 5312.
- Also, I was jealously blown away when I discovered the DEWALT DWS780 has an XPS system, an LED light, like some sort of laser guide attached to the power head of the saw, to help one mark accurately the area of target on the material being cut; It also lights up the whole area. Now that’s innovation.
Conclusively, the nature and tone of the article should obviously give you a little idea on the better choice of compound miter saw, but that’s not to say that whatsoever you choose wouldn’t be a great decision as well. All that matters is that your choice meets your needs.
