Milwaukee 6955-20 vs Dewalt DWS780 Review

Whether or not people would like to admit it, the right miter saw can make a huge difference on the different things that they are making. There are some projects that will require better equipment than others but why should people settle for an equipment that is not good enough if the best equipment can be purchased? Narrowing down the choices for the right miter saw can be complicated but if given the choice between the Milwaukee 6955-20 and the Dewalt DWS780, which one should be chosen?

Milwaukee 6955-20 vs Dewalt DWS 780

Milwaukee 6955-20 Miter Saw

This is the first ever 12” double bevel miter that Milwaukee did. The brand has created it with technology that will make sure that cuts will be great every time. The solid 3200 rpm with or without load does not lie – it can be very powerful when used. It can cut through various types of wood whether it is expensive or not.

Advantages of Milwaukee 6955-20 Miter Saw

  • The moment that I saw double bevel, I already know that this is a product worth checking out. The fact that it is double bevel means that there are two ways by which the adjustment can be made. There is manual adjustment too in order to make the cutting more precise and accurate. The weight of this machine is distributed easily which makes adjusting the saw blades very easy to do.
  • At first I thought that the fine adjustment feature that is being promoted is just a commercial advertisement in order to lure people into trying out the product more but I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that fine adjustment is truly possible with the use of this miter saw. I use it especially when I have to do some crucial work on my projects.
  • This is something that I always pay special attention to the dust collection system. I have to say that Milwaukee did a fine job in making a dust collection system that actually works. It makes my workspace so much cleaner and clearer so I can focus on my work more than thinking about the dust that I would have to clean up after my work is done.

Disadvantage of the Milwaukee 6955 Miter Saw

  • The main problem that I have with the Milwaukee 6955 is that the power cord is too short. The problem with this is that I would have to place the equipment near the electrical socket otherwise it will become a big problem or I will trip on the power cord if I forget. As much as possible, people would want to minimize the accidents that will happen while working. The short power cord can be accident prone however.

Dewalt DWS780 12 Inch Miter Saw

  • It can be pretty apparent at first glance that the Dewalt DWS780 is very strong. It can easily cut various types of wood without any wobble or any problem. It can even cut through 16 inch boards. If compared to the Milwaukee 6955, the Dewalt may be stronger in terms of accuracy and cutting range.
  • The dust collection system of the Dewalt can be a bit problematic however probably because it is not as good as compared to the Milwauke 6955. This can probably be remedied though by using a universal dust bag.
  • There are some issues about the slides of the saw of the Dewalt DWS780. Some people have said that it can be very hard to use especially in the beginning although once the blade and the saw are adjusted, the equipment can work very well.

Both of the equipment mentioned above has their own shares of advantages and disadvantages. The bottom line is that the choice will be up to the consumer. There are some peope who feel that the dust collection system is no big deal while for others, it is extremely important. Through those preferences, people will be able to grasp and determine which equipment they should purchase.
