Anycubic Kobra vs Kobra Go Review

When choosing an FDM 3D printer, you want to know you’re getting the best quality option. With so many choices available, it can be a difficult choice to make. User-friendly printers that create excellent prints quickly with low failure rates are ideal. Anycubic features two models that meet all these criteria – the Kobra and Kobra Go. Before recommending which one is best for you, we’ll compare them based on features, such as extruder type and user experience.

Anycubic Kobra

Anycubic Kobra

The Anycubic Kobra is easy to assemble, requiring you to put together only approximately 10% of the printer. It’s easily set up within 10 minutes. Additionally, it features auto-leveling. With one-button leveling, you can avoid the tedious leveling process of other printers of its class feature and be ready to print in just five minutes.

The print platform is a double-sided magnetic PEI spring steel, making it much more durable than alternative options. Additionally, it has a much longer working life. You will enjoy it for longer with less associated maintenance costs. Your models will also release very quickly.

With a direct drive extruder, you will have nothing but high-precision printing. The Anycubic Kobra will produce excellent quality prints with a low failure rate. Replacement of filaments is also a breeze with this model. This model supports the use of PLA, ABS, PETG, and TPU filaments. The printer features a large 250 x 220 x 220 mm printing volume, allowing for much larger prints.

The Anycubic Kobra offers a fast standard 3D printing speed of 60 mm/s with a peak speed of 100 mm/s. These speeds allow you to save much time on all your printing projects. Additionally, the printer features smart sensors – one for power outages and one for filament run-out. Your print will be paused in either situation until the situation is corrected. These sensors will save you time, material, and money on failed prints. However, they must be purchased separately.

You will also enjoy a one-year warranty with lifetime technical support. The Anycubic after-sales team offers excellent support, responding within 24 hours.

Anycubic Kobra Go

Anycubic Kobra Go

The Anycubic Kobra Go features the Anycubic auto-leveling system. You won’t have to worry about struggling to level the print bed before starting a print at any point. It has precise detection, and you won’t need more than five minutes to level the bed.

You will not struggle to remove your completed models because this printer has an easy-to-bend PEI springform plate. In addition, this will save you money on maintenance as it will last longer and is more durable. This model supports using PETG, PLA, TPU, and ABS filaments.

Like the Anycubic Kobra, this model features a large printing volume of 250 x 220 x 200 mm. It also features the same standard printing speed of 60 mm/s with a top speed of 100 mm/s. Both printers accommodate large-size models and save time with their printing speeds. Additionally, they’re both easy to assemble. However, the Anycubic Kobra Go is different in that it has a Bowden extruder instead of a direct drive extruder.

However, the Bowden extruder is separated from the hotend, making the hotend lighter. This separation increases printing speed as the hotend experiences less inertia during printing.

The Anycubic Kobra Go offers excellent functionality. First, it has smart sensors that recognize power outages and filament run-out situations, but they must be purchased separately. Second, there is an easy-to-use knob for the XY-axis tensioner to adjust the belt tension easily. You can also enjoy a one-year warranty with lifetime technical support in which Anycubic will respond within 24 hours.

Our Recommendation

These printers are excellent options based on print speed, build volume, and ease of assembly. However, the Anycubic Kobra presents itself as a much more user-friendly option because of its direct drive extruder. This type of extruder is easier to reload, improving the user experience. We recommend this printer for beginner printmakers.

The Anycubic Kobra Go is not without its merits. Despite having a Bowden extruder, it features all the other great benefits of Anycubic Kobra, especially the ability to auto-level. Because of this, we recommend this printer for mid-level print makers.
