This is the recently improved version of the DW744XRS. It can rip wider boards and has new safety features. It also folds up and rolls like a dolly, which is handy since it weighs 90 pounds, quite a lot more than the other saw.
The telescoping rack and pinion fence rails allow for 32-1/2 inch cuts on the right side of the blade. The cut depth is the same as the DW744XRS. The tabletop workspace measures 26-1/4 by 22 inches.
The 15-amp motor idles at 4800 rpm. A new safety feature kicks in if the power is cut off unexpectedly. The saw stays powered down when the electricity comes back until the user restarts the saw.
The blade guard and riving knife don’t require tools for mounting or removal. The blade guard can stay in place even for narrow rips because the ripping fence flips. The guard has a place to mount a shop vac hose and the table does too.
