Conclusion
Both of these saws are excellent products, with the Dewalt having a slight edge over the Bosch in terms of overall customer satisfaction. Some of the reasons that the Dewalt is rated more favourably may be due to its superb rack and fence, and the saw’s ability to consistently cut within 1/16th of an inch. The Bosch is also highly accurate in this regard, though it may have some difficulty regulating the height of the blade due to it’s lacking a blade lock. Although both products are supposed to work well right out of the box, the Bosch may take a bit of effort to ensure that the blade, table and bevel are all aligned properly. This is in contrast to the Dewalt, which boasts that its modular guarding system enables adjustments to be made without the use of additional tools. Regardless of which product you ultimately decide on, it is always a good idea to double check the calibration and accuracy of the gauge before using the saw.
One of the unique features of the Bosch is its gravity-rise stand, which quickly allows the saw to rise into place. Although the stand adds a bit of weight to the saw, the Dewalt is no different in this regard. The stands on both saws allow them to fold up neatly to be packed away when not in use, but it is important to bear in mind that the base of both saws may extend slightly past the wheels, so exercise caution when transporting them to avoid causing damage to surrounding walls and objects.
Although both saws offer a high degree of accuracy, they are not designed for precise cabinetry styling, but for larger cuts. Regardless of which saw you choose, once calibrated, they are a quick set up, and you will be able to start working with them right away. Perhaps because of its accurate and consistent fence, and its precision cuts, my personal choice is the Dewalt. But the Bosch stacks up quite nicely as well, and either product would be a welcome tool.
