ADIMLab Gantry Pro Review

3D FDM printers are very popular.  They offer minimal cleanup post-printing, a variety of materials and colors to work with, and many options for beginners to advanced users.  The ADIMLab Gantry Pro offers many great features, including a large build space, improved manual bed leveling, and the ability to work with a multitude of materials.

Gantry Pro Specifications

ADIMLab Gantry Pro

The ADIMLab Gantry Pro comes 90% assembled, making it an easy printer to set up.  It will take users 10 to 20 minutes to finish the setup.

Like the Creality CR-10, the Gantry Pro comes with a frame of tall aluminum extrusions with an attached controller box.  Its advantage over the CR-10 is that it has a larger build area.

The Gantry Pro has a large print bed, offering a build volume of 310 x 310 x 410 mm.  The printer has dual x- and z- motors as well as more supports to offer more stability and accuracy of the printing platform.  This provides a sturdy and stable feel while preventing drift.  Additionally, the extruder has built-in cooling fans for the hot end.

This printer comes with manual bed leveling.  However, it is Mesh leveling, which is more accurate and easier to use than more traditional leveling methods.

The Gantry Pro comes with a filament run-out sensor.  This sensor will detect when the filament is nearly gone and pause the printing process.  It will allow the unit to cool so that the user can exchange the filament.  Pressing resume will cause the unit to pick up right where it left off.

It supports a multitude of filament types.  These include PLA, PC, HIPS, ABS, PLUS carbon fiber, TPU, TPE soft rubber consumables, PVA water-soluble, among many others.  The nozzle has a diameter of 0.4 mm.  It uses filaments with a diameter of 1.75 mm.

The heated printing platform is aluminum, so the heat spreads evenly.  The maximum heat of the platform is 100°C while the maximum temperature of the extruder is 260°C.

SD card or USB port are the two methods of data transmission for printing.

The Gantry Pro has a decent level of accuracy.  On the x and y-axis, it has an accuracy of 100 microns.  On the z-axis, it has an accuracy of 40 microns.  The printing speed is 120 mm per second.

One downside to this printer is the fact that it is an open model.  There is no enclosure to protect the bed.  Ambient temperatures and environmental irritants can affect the outcome of the prints.  Additionally, this leaves the hot end exposed.  This is a safety hazard for small children who may reach for it.

Customer service is available via Skype, email, and Facebook.  The staff is knowledgeable and responsive when contacted.

Recommendation

The Gantry Pro is an excellent entry-level printer.  It offers high-quality prints with an easy-to-use format.  Due to its open frame, we do not recommended this printer for younger users or users with small children in the home.
